why art week?
Art Week exists to activate art, connect artists, and provide avenues for the people of our city to engage and think differently about art across our communities. Over the course of a week, Art Week inspires new ways of thinking about art that are spontaneous and surprising.
Art Week was back for its 8th year in 2022, facilitated for the first time by Group Creatives. As a consultancy, Group Creatives leverages the unique powers of the arts to connect and innovate, engaging artists to create novel cross-sector solutions.
Art Week 2022 highlighted artists throughout the Des Moines area and the public and private spaces that make our city unique.
For Art Week 2022, Group Creatives held a series of listening sessions with local artists, cultural producers, and community organizers. This resulted in an approach highlighting seven different neighborhoods in the Des Moines Metro through daily scheduling and unique activations.
