Palm Springs Int’ Airport - Baggage Claim Columns Rotating Exhibition Series

Palm Springs International Airport is the premier access point for the Coachella Valley. As part of Group Creatives’ research process, an Initial Conditions Report was developed which identified a number of unique opportunities for art integration within the airport’s traveler experience.

The baggage claim columns rotating exhibition series was selected by Group Creatives and the PSP Art Working Group as the inaugural activation which also served as the launch of the airport’s new art program developed by Group and the Airport Art Working Group. Art@PSP was announced as part of the unveiling event and artist reception for the first implementation - Desert in Motion by Patrick Barwinski.

The baggage claim and rental car counter area of Palm Springs Int’l Airport contains 15 columns distributed throughout the space. This area becomes exceptionally busy during peak travel seasons and offers up a unique opportunity to engage travelers as they arrive in Palm Springs - whether they are here for an event, on vacation, or returning home.

The 15 columns are distributed throughout the baggage claim and car rental area which provides an opportunity for unique vantage points and lines of sight that will include a variety of columns and from nearly all angles.
