Dogtown lights - warming a community in the winter through light, sound, and workshops
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - FAMILY LIGHTS ANIMATION WORKSHOP
Families were invited to spend an afternoon at Dough Co. Pizza in the vibrant Dogtown neighborhood for a hands-on animation workshop. The event offered a unique opportunity for participants of all ages to create their own animated designs that would be displayed on the dynamic light installations spread across Dogtown throughout the month of January.
Using a templated grid system and animation toolkit developed by Group Artistic Director Alex Braidwood, attendees were guided through the process of creating frame-by-frame animations. Bold colors, imaginative designs, and playful experimentation were encouraged as each participant brought their ideas to life.
Once completed, the drawings were scanned and digitally sequenced to align with the light display system. The result: families could see their own animations illuminated on buildings up and down the streets—turning the neighborhood into a glowing gallery of community creativity.
